Installation guide

Open it on your Mac

Open the downloaded disk image. macOS stops an app Apple has not notarized the first time it opens; let it through once, and only for FluidEQ from this site’s GitHub release.
  1. Drag FluidEQ into Applications, then open it from there.
  2. macOS says it could not verify FluidEQ. Click “Done”, the gray button — not “Move to Trash”.
  3. From the Apple menu, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click “Open Anyway” next to “FluidEQ was blocked”.
  4. Click “Open Anyway” again and enter your password. macOS asks only this once.
  5. When FluidEQ asks to record system audio, click “Allow”: that is the sound it equalizes.

Drawn in this site’s style: your Mac’s windows look different, with the same buttons.

Installation guide

Open it on Linux

Download the AppImage. Linux opens it once it is marked executable, which takes one switch in its Properties.
  1. Right-click the AppImage in Downloads and choose “Properties”.
  2. Turn on “Executable as Program”. On older desktops it is under Permissions: “Allow executing file as program”.
  3. Close Properties and double-click the AppImage.
In a terminal instead:
chmod +x FluidEQ-2.2.1-x86_64.AppImage && ./FluidEQ-2.2.1-x86_64.AppImage
With the .deb, on Ubuntu or Debian:
sudo apt install ./FluidEQ-2.2.1-amd64.deb
If the AppImage does not open on Ubuntu 24.04 or later, it needs FUSE 2 first (libfuse2 on 22.04):
sudo apt install libfuse2t64

Drawn in this site’s style, as GNOME’s Files has it: other desktops put the same switch under Permissions.

2.2 Every output, a sound of its own

Headphones and speakers each keep their own EQ, preset, DSP rack and Room. Tune each ear on its own, soften a voice’s sharp S, share sound both ways across a whole group of computers, and keep the scenes you love for good.

THE NEW PLAYER

One player. Every color.

The compact player is all new: one column, with the visualizer glowing behind the song, the transport right under it, your EQ’s own bands, and Up next beside your playlists. Drop music anywhere on it to queue it. Turn the Tint and it takes your color — the keys, the faders, the seek bar and the song that’s playing — and with Colorful mode on, every fader gets a color of its own.

A new engine comes with it

2.1 brings FluidEQ Engine 1.24, which plays each ear’s own bands and the De-esser, and shows Live leveling’s output loudness. FluidEQ offers the update after it starts, with one Windows prompt; until then everything else plays as before.

What FluidEQ does

Everything you hear, shaped your way.

An EQ for every app, a DSP rack, a player, karaoke, and visualizers that move with your music. Swipe through what FluidEQ does.

Your first five minutes

First steps with FluidEQ

Start with a familiar song at a comfortable volume. The left rail switches FluidEQ on and holds the preamp; the center is your workspace; the right rail follows your output and its profiles. The bar at the foot of the window controls whatever is playing.

Visualizers FluidEQ

Watch the music move.

The visualizers are living scenes drawn on your graphics card. These are running in your browser right now, to the song from the demo video — the same scenes, through the same scene contract the app runs them in.

A tour of the visualizers

Everything in the Visualizers tab, in four and a half minutes: the gallery, the Studio from an idea to a published scene, Dynamic lighting and the desktop visualizer.

Visualizers Make it with your AI

Build your own visualizer with your AI.

The Studio turns a description into a visualizer. Your own AI assistant writes the scene in a project folder, and FluidEQ plays each version on your music the moment it is saved. The Studio is free for every account.

  1. New project…

Give it a name. FluidEQ makes its folder, with a scene that already moves.

  2. Describe your scene

What it shows, and what moves with the beat, the bass or the treble. A photo of yours can come alive too.

  3. Copy AI prompt

It tells your AI how FluidEQ scenes are made, with your idea at the end. Every file it saves plays on the stage right away.

Any assistant that works on files: Claude, Cursor, Codex, Copilot. With a chat instead, save the files it gives you in this folder.

  4. Publish…

Anyone signed in can find it in Visualizers and watch it for 10 seconds, and one credit keeps it in their looks for good.

The FluidEQ Engine

Your EQ, on everything you hear.

FluidEQ’s own audio engine runs inside Windows’ audio service, after your sound card’s effects — so games, browsers and streaming apps all pass through your EQ and the whole DSP rack, and the maker’s panel keeps working.

The person behind FluidEQ

Built between bedtime and the next idea.

I’m Ivan Carmenates Garcia. I belong to the in-between era: old enough to have written Z80 machine language by hand, young enough to still ship software today.

  1. 01

    The first machine

My father traveled across provinces to find his kid a better computer. That machine opened a door I never stopped walking through.

  2. 02

    Closer to the metal

MSX-era BASIC led to hand-written Z80 code, then to a lifetime of asking how complex software could feel clear and immediate.

  3. 03

    Still shipping

Today I’m a developer, a father of two, and the person building FluidEQ. The quiet hours after family time are when filters are tuned, bugs are chased, and the next workspace takes shape.

One coffee is roughly one late night of building. It helps keep FluidEQ free, local, maintained, and moving forward.

A hidden reward

Find the beat. Keep the spectrum.

Tap the pet on the beat. In FluidEQ the game hears the percussion in your own audio; here, reach ×10 and this page turns colorful too.

In FluidEQ itself, Colorful mode is one click away in the What’s new tour — no ×10 required.

What actually changes

  • Every EQ band drops its single teal and takes its own color, and each slider pulses with what that band is hearing.
  • The response curve thickens and its glow becomes the spectrum. The selected handle swells with the level under it.
  • The title-bar meter grows taller and starts drawing at your screen’s full refresh rate instead of the thirty it is capped to otherwise — the wave gets visibly smoother.
  • Menus, About and What’s new pick up the same sweep, so the color is not just on one screen.
  • The pet gets a spinning aura, and the moment you reach it two rings go out across the whole window.
  • Nothing behind text is tinted. The color lives on edges and on things that were already moving, so the app stays readable.
  • Ctrl+E turns it off and on from then on, and reduced motion keeps the color while holding it still.
